Dear markers,
Thank you for your continued hard work towards complete marking by the deadline. Good progress is being made thanks to your ongoing support.
Contacting us
The ETS marker helpdesk (0870 1614529) is still experiencing a high number of calls. Some markers are having difficulty getting the information and assistance they require, which is causing frustration. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Many enquiries are complex or require us to seek information from schools which may mean your issues take a while to resolve. Thank you for your patience; we ask that you continue to mark your scripts while you are awaiting a response.
Completing script verification
We are aware that some markers have been unable to complete script verification because some schools’ online attendance registers required additional updates. As soon as the attendance information is confirmed with the school and processed by us, updates will be reflected on your script verification screen. You will then need to complete script verification for any added pupils before you continue marking the school’s scripts.
In response to your questions regarding benchmarking, please see the following information regarding the benchmarking process.
· You can trigger benchmarking by saving your marks online. You do not need to submit marks to trigger benchmarking.
· A test script is a collection of papers and/or answer booklets per pupil per subject. The online benchmarking prompt will trigger once a marker has marked 80 test scripts (or 100 for key stage 3 English), NOT papers. For example, 80 full scripts (made up of all of the papers for a key stage subject for 80 pupils) will need to have been marked before you are prompted to benchmark.
Returning marked scripts
To help us return the scripts to schools promptly, please arrange for your marked scripts to be collected as soon as you have completed an entire school. You do not need to wait for the deadline or until you finish all schools in your allocation.
When you have completed marking all scripts for a school, please pack them, and clearly write "MARKED SCRIPTS" on top of the boxes with a marker pen. Then follow the step-by-step guidance provided in the UPS "parcel carriage instructions" which can be found in our '2008 documents library'.
If you require any additional stationery, bags or boxes, please call the UPS helpdesk on 08457 877 877.
Thank you for helping us to ensure scripts are returned to schools on time.
Modified large print (MLP) mark scheme
If you have received modified large print scripts, you will need to use the MLP mark schemes to mark these papers. You can now access all key stage subject versions of MLP mark schemes on www.makingamark.org.uk in the '2008 documents library'.
Payments
All markers should have been paid their ‘Application of the mark scheme training’ fee on the 6 June. If you have not received your payment, please check your bank details have been entered correctly on www.makingamark.org.uk.
Expense claim forms are currently being processed. These take 4-6 weeks to be processed and the next payment date is the 20 June.
Marking progress
In order to ensure all scripts are marked and results returned to schools on time, please let us know if you have a complete school’s scripts that you will not be able to mark on time. To arrange a collection please call the marker helpdesk on 0870 1614529 as soon as possible, so that we can collect these scripts for reallocation.
Markers willing to accept reallocated scripts are greatly appreciated and we are grateful for your patience while waiting for reallocated scripts to arrive.
Thank you
We are extremely grateful for everyone’s patience and effort to date. Please keep up the good work. |
