Online marker applications demonstrations


This section is a step-by-step guide to using the Online marker applications. The following training demonstrations are designed for both markers and supervising markers:

 

·         navigating your way through the demonstrations

·         marker management tools

·         online mark capture

·         standardisation and benchmarking.

Please note that at the end of each demonstration, a message will appear asking you whether you want to close the window. Click 'Yes' to complete the demonstration and to return to this screen.

 

Navigating your way around the demonstrations

This is a brief demonstration which shows you how to navigate your way around the online marker applications demonstrations.

Marker management tools 

For markers, this demonstration will cover:


·         navigating your way around this particular online marker application

·         reviewing personal details and submitting payroll information

·         tracking the delivery of your consignment(s)

·         resetting your password.       

 

For supervising markers, this demonstration will cover:


·         viewing your team members and their details

·         providing marking feedback to team members

·         monitoring and performance assessment of team members

·         unblocking markers who pass their second attempt at

       standardisation (after not passing their first attempt).

Online mark capture

It is essential that when viewing this demonstration for the first time, you go through all of the steps including the introduction. Thereafter, you can navigate your way around it to suit your training needs.

 

For markers and supervising markers, this demonstration will cover:

 

·         navigating your way around this particular online marker application

·         script verification

·         capturing marks online (for allocated and reallocated scripts)

·         indicating damaged/missing pages or papers

·         submitting captured marks (for allocated and reallocated scripts).

 

For supervising markers, this demonstration will also cover:


·         assessing marker progress.

Standardisation and benchmarking

For markers and supervising markers (for benchmarking only), this demonstration will cover:


·         navigating your way around this particular online marker application

·         accessing the standardisation and benchmarking exercises

·         utilising the optimisation tools to enhance online scripts

·         reviewing both exercises.

 

For supervising markers, this demonstration will cover:


·         accessing your markers’ attempts at both standardisation and

       benchmarking

·         reviewing markers’ application of the mark scheme

·         viewing markers standardisation and benchmarking results.

Necessary PC requirements for using the Online marker applications

 

The final part of your tutorial is to check that your PC is comaptible with the Online marker applications and is set up to run the Online marker applications.

 

If your PC does not meet our requirements, go to our additional troubleshooting section (link provided below) for further instructions.

 

If your PC still does not meet the requirements, please note you will not be able to mark in 2008. 

 

PC compatibility check

The PC compatibility check will automatically check that your PC is running the correct:


·         operating system

·         internet browser

·         pop-up blocker

·         JRE version (Java runtime environment).

 

Please follow the steps listed below to complete the PC compatibility check.


·         Log in to the Online marker applications to access the Marker

       links screen.

·         Select the 'PC Tool' link.

·         This will automatically check your PC's compatibility.

 

If compatible, you will receive the 'System check list' screen with 'Yes' against all four requirements.

 

If incompatible, you will receive the 'System check list' screen with 'No' against one or more of the four requirements. Please click here for additional troubleshooting instructions.

PC setup confirmation

When checking your PC's setup, please be aware of the following:


·         The marking application is a test and is not live.

·         The questions do not need to be marked correctly.

·         The same questions are used for all markers and may not apply to your key stage or subject .

 

To check your PC can run the Online marker applications, please follow the steps below.


·        Log in to the Online marker applications to access the 'Marker

      links' screen.

·        Click on the 'PC Usability Tool' link.

·        Select any folder from the ten listed.

·         View and mark the questions using the viewing optimisation

      tools at the same time. You must ensure that you mark all seven

      questions in the folder you have selected.  

·        Once you have marked all seven questions you will be taken to the

      'Cluster summary' screen.  

 

If your PC's set up can run the Online marker applications, you will receive the message: "Click on OK to request another folder, or click on 'Cancel' to exit."
