Verifying scripts and capturing marks online
We are pleased to confirm that in most cases markers are now able to submit marks for the school's scripts they have received, without calling the helpdesk first. If you have been unable to submit your marks, please login to making a mark and try again.
Please see the guidance below, for the most common eventualities.
I have received a Java error whilst trying to capture marks online.
If you get a Java error message when attempting to submit marks online, this is because additional pupils have been added to your script verification screen. In order to continue submitting marks online, you will need to complete script verification for the added pupils.
If you receive an error message when you try to access online mark capture, please do the following:
Step one: Open your script verification for all schools you have previously verified.
Step two: Look for any new students who may have been added since you submitted your verification. You will be able to identify these students because you will be able to edit them, whereas the students you previously verified will be greyed out.
Step three: Complete script verification for these new students in the normal way.
Step four: Submit the revised script verification.
Step five: Complete these steps for all schools you had previously verified.
You should now be able to access your online mark capture without receiving the error report. If you are still receiving error messages, please contact the marker helpdesk on 0870 1614529.
I have received a script for a pupil who is marked as absent on the script verification screen.
Please select 'Yes' in the 'Paper received column'. Then, please enter marks as normal and submit your marks once you have completed marking all the received scripts for pupils in the school.
I have not received a script for a pupil listed on my script verification screen.
Please select 'No' in the 'Paper received column'. You can then go ahead and capture marks online for scripts you have received. Once you have completed marking all the received scripts for pupils in the school, you should submit your marks. Please call or email the marker helpdesk as soon as possible with the details of the pupils for whom you have not received scripts. We will then investigate to ensure that no scripts are missing. Once you have completed marking and captured all of your marks online, you will be able to submit your marks.
The pupil is marked as present but I haven't received a script for this pupil. Is the script missing?
In the vast majority of cases the pupil will have not sat the test and so there is no script to mark. To ensure this is the case, please call or email the marker helpdesk as soon as possible with the details of the pupils for whom you have not received scripts so that we can investigate to ensure that no scripts are missing.
In the meantime, please select 'No' in the 'Paper received column' on the Script verificaiton screen for this pupil. Once you have completed marking and captured all of your marks online, you will be able to submit your marks.
I have received a script for a pupil who is not listed on the script verification screen.
If you receive a script for a pupil who is not listed on the script verification screen, please inform the marker helpdesk so that we can contact the school to have the pupil added. As soon as the attendance information is confirmed with the school and processed by us, updates will be reflected on your script verification screen. You will then need to complete script verification for any added pupils before you continue marking the school’s scripts.
